Healthcare and the hygienic handling of drinking water, particularly in hospitals, homes for aged people and medical cabinets, represents a special challenge. Especially immunodeficient patients are particularly prone to infections associated with water.
With decades of experience in the field of drinking water disinfection, CleanMead advises dentists and clinicians on infection prevention and hygiene management of water-bearing systems. Beside the danger of infections through contamination of the household water and its mains, water taps and
shower heads, also hoses of turbines, motors, drills and removers of tartar can be infested by germs and the so-called biofilm so that a comprehensive hygiene concept should be implemented.
In general drinking water contains a big number of microorganisms that do not represent any health risk for the consumer. However, the situation becomes problematic when a high concentration of microorganisms like legionella is forming in warm water lines with temperatures between 20 and 40 degrees Celsius so that it can lead to the most severe illnesses with fatal outcome.
Recent scientific studies confirm that the Legionella in the household water system can only be controlled by permanent disinfection with chlorine-oxygen compounds. The use of filter and UV cannot solve the problem.
In order to avoid such situations, CleanMed has developed just-in-time working devices and system solutions for effective and sustainable prevention against infections associated with water in hospitals, homes for aged people and medical practices.
The electrolysis process and disinfectant (NaClO) – sodium hypochlorite – used by CleanMed destroy the pathogens so effectively that even dangerous recontamination (called “retrograde ontogony”) will be prevented.
